The Mushroom Body Collection came out of a walk in the Hoh Rainforest in Washington State. The rainforest is known for its mosses and mushrooms and I had never seen anything like it. I was working in emergency medicine at the time and I was immediately inspired to make the Magic Mushroom Heart. Inevitably, this led to a pair of Lungs and then Guts. Less than six months later the Pandemic began, and with it came the lockdown. Desperate for something to do with my time, I colored in giclee prints of the Black and White Mushroom Body and completely reimagined the art that I had made just before the Pandemic began.
